what to expect / faqS.

you’re here.

Finding a good therapist is about finding the right therapist for you and sometimes this feels daunting. I have included some info here to give you a sense of the process and what you can expect.

What to expect next.

  • BOOK A FREE CONSULTATION… if it looks like we may be a good fit using the button up top or on the bottom of this page.

  • DURING THE CONSULTATION CALL… you’ll give me a sense of what you’re experiencing and what you’re looking for. Through our conversation, you’ll begin to get more of the answers to “Does it seem like this therapist can help me?” and “Can I imagine us working together?”

  • WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE CALL… there’s no exact right questions to ask me or any therapist you have a consult call with. My general advice is notice how the therapist responds to you and how that feels. Trust your gut. If you do have specific questions about how the therapist works or what is their expertise, ask!

  • BOOKING THE 1ST APPOINTMENT… on the call we will decide if it seems like we could be a good fit, and we’ll book our first appointment.

BEFORE THE FIRST APPOINTMENT

I’ll send you some paperwork to review and an intake form to complete. This gives me background on you, but it is also a good opportunity for you to reflect on what you’re experiencing, what you hope to address, and what comes up as you respond to questions about your life, family and friends, identity and more.

I’ll also send you info on how to join a video session or how to get into my office.

fIRST APPOINTMENT

Finally, we’ll meet! Either online or inperson.

Our first few sessions, you’ll be introducing yourself to me including how you’re suffering and what your hopes of therapy are. You also continue to get a sense of me and how the work together feels. We will check in to see how it’s going and if it’s meeting your needs.

the value.

Therapy is an investment. It’s an ongoing commitment to yourself to be in process with an experienced and trained guide in order to heal… in order to have better relationships… in order to transform.

When we think of therapy in terms of a transformation rather than the amount of minutes we spend together, the pricetag feels a lot more worthwhile.

my commitment to my clients.

If we work together, I commit to:

  • getting to know and see you as a whole person, more than your struggles or diagnosis.

  • learning your values and deepest wants and guiding you from your perspective.

  • push you when you need pushing and hold you gently when you need holding.

  • being receptive to feedback, even longing for it and having honest dialogue together.
